Certificate in English Language Teaching for Volunteers

Join our Certificate in ELT for Volunteers while working as a volunteer  in Thailand..  more information >>>

This program is aimed at those who wish to teach English abroad in one of those locations that normally employ teachers on a volunteer rather than paid basis

It can be taken as a stand alone qualification or can be combined with either the Certificate in TEFL 60 hour or 120 hour program

When a combined course is taken we issue two separate certificates and transcripts one for the Certificate in TEFL and one for the Certificate in Teaching English for Volunteers

The Certificate in Teaching English for Volunteers course takes into account that the actual teaching circumstances will be somewhat different from the traditional mainstream classroom and aims to provide the skills and resources that will enable to volunteer to teach successfully and effectively

Areas covered within the course include:

Why/where and how can I become a volunteer teacher of English

What to expect

Different schemes of both paid and unpaid voluntary teaching with useful addresses etc

What to consider before leaving and what to take with you

How different is it from mainstream TEFL and the practicalities of adjusting to the new situation

What and how do I teach

Teaching large classes

Teaching monolingual groups

Dealing with a lack of resources on the ground and successfully resourcing the situation

Setting appropriate deals and building relationships with the students and host community
