CAREER HISTORY

January 2001 – April 2003                Amey Rail & Amey Highways

HR Administrator

The Amey Group, one of the UK's leading support services specialists, is a highly successful company with wide ranging skills and experience both in the public and private sector. I have gained vital experience in both the Rail and Highways sector, assisting the HR Director(s) in the mobilisation of new contracts, addressing TUPE issues.  I have had the opportunity to contribute to the following projects:

·          Tube Lines – Selected by London Underground Limited (LUL) as their preferred partner for the regeneration of the Jubilee, Northern and Piccadilly lines.

·          The Midland Matrix, comprising 860km of road including major routes such as M5, M6, M40, M43 and A5, is at the core of the national highway network and represents the largest ever project awarded by the Highways Agency to a Managing Agent. The project value is £250 million pounds and aims to provide motorway maintenance and improvement services.

My duties include and have included:

·          Providing basic guidance and advice to staff on a range of issues including pay, welfare, maternity and sickness

·          Contributing administrative support to the HR Manager across the range of personnel services, including payroll, recruitment, training, performance management and communications

·          Ensuring that employees, under TUPE, retain all rights and obligations existing under their contracts of employment. This involves researching the terms and condition of their contracts through ‘Due Diligence’ exercises and consulting with employee representatives, employers and employees themselves

·          Understanding and directing staff on issues of company policy with reference to HR policies, procedures and contracts of employment and escalate where necessary

After the launch of Amey’s Shared Service Centre I have been significantly involved in applying and communicating new processes to existing methods and employees.  I have managed coaching sessions, re-educating senior staff on the Company’s new processes and procedures, helping them to adopt their new responsibilities.

July 1999 – January 2001             University of Central England

Course Administrator

I worked in an office that administered an array of undergraduate programmes, as part of a team providing administrative assistance to academic members of staff and students.

My duties included:

·          Dealing with student enquiries by way of providing information and advice to students on areas such as finance, budgeting and money management

·          Maintaining the student records database

·          Providing a comprehensive secretarial service to various heads of department

·          Servicing University committees by taking minutes and typing reports, all to a high standard

·          Organising activities and events aimed at potential new students, which included attending Higher Education conventions and assisting with talks in schools and colleges

·          Working hard to ensure the smooth and efficient running of a busy and professional office

I had specific responsibility for the administration of the programmes run by the Faculty of Education.  This involved considerable liaison with local primary schools for acquiring teaching practice placements for our first and second year teaching practice students. My principal accomplishment in this role was securing over 75 teaching practice placements for undergraduate students studying towards their Degree in Primary Teaching.

February 1996 – June 1999                 Coventry University

Administrative Assistant

Employed by University’s Undergraduate Teaching Office, I worked in what was a busy, almost front-of-house office, which involved considerable liaison with both academic staff and students.  I provided administrative support to the Teaching Office Manager and Director of Undergraduate Studies.

·          Developing systems to process applications for a range of hardship funds and bursaries

·          Provide information to students and prospective students on matters relating to money management, budgeting and offer debt advice.

·          Arranging the internal moderation of coursework, ensuring that all requirements are included in programme handbooks.
